South African batsmen have been clueless on the turning wickets in India. The best of their batsmen were made to look like rookies by the Indian spinners and wickets tumbled like a pack of cards on the first day of the third Test at Nagpur. The Nagpur strip began turning from the very first session of the match as Indian spinners dominated the South African batsmen.

After packing the South African innings for a score of 79, the Indian batsmen walked in to bat. Hashim Amla opted for a pace-spin attack and thus pacer Morne Morkel and off-spinner Simon Harmer started the 2nd innings proceedings with the ball. Though there was initial movement for Morkel with the fresh new red ball. The pitch, obviously, offered no assistance to the fast bowler. This unresponsive wicket forced Morkel to drop his pace as well. After getting 3 wickets in the first innings bowling gull, he opted to give the ball a little tweak in the second innings.

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was the batsman facing him at the other end. Morkel ran in with same intensity, but instead of bowling a seam-up delivery, he started with bowling off-break to the left-hander. The ball revolved with a perfect seam position and turned considerably. Dhawan was surprised as the ball nearly took an outside edge, luckily he pulled the bat out of the line in time.

Later Morkel did manage to get success with his new attempt as he got the other opener Murali Vijay caught at slips
