Watch: Wasim Akram bowls deadly in-swinging Yorkers against Aussies: Wasim Akram and his prodigal swinging ability is still a better love story than anything else. Many bowlers have come and vanish but this Pakistani magician has stitched a special place in the hearts of the fans for his meticulous abilities with the cherry in hand. His prodigal in-swinging and out-swinging deliveries were a difficult riddle to solve for even the best in the business. Plus his deceptive variations like the slower bouncer or the sudden change in his pace made things even trickier for the batters. Akram ended up his career with 916 international wickets.
Today, we take a look at two of his vintage wickets which sums up his magic with the ball. In a ODI match against Australia, the King of swing out foxed Darren Lehmann and then Ian Healy completely. His first delivery was against the Aussie southpaw Lehmann to whom he bowled an unplayable in-swinging Yorker. Although the ball started from well outside the off-stump but it struck on Lehmann’s toe who was unable to negotiate the prodigal swing and was trapped plumb in-front of the wicket. The Umpire didn’t have any hesitations in ruling the decision in favor of the bowler.
Then Ian Healy became the victim of Akram’s brilliance. Akram bowled a lethal in-swinging Yorker to Healy; the ball had pitched outside the leg-stump and completely deceived the Aussie Wicket-keeper batsman and kissed his back leg and then got deviated towards the stumps and the batter was clean bowled. Healy even couldn’t open his account. After watching this video you will realize how awesome Wasim Akram was with his miraculous swinging abilities.
