Joshua da Silva and Kyle Mayers inspired the West Indies to a 10-wicket win over England on Day 4 of the third and final Test match at the National Cricket Stadium at St George’s in Grenada. With this victory, the Caribbean side clinched the three-match Test series by a margin of 1-0. West Indies have now won back-to-back Test series against England on home soil. West Indies defeated England 2-1 three years back in the year 2019.
Talking about how the third and deciding Test match panned out, Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and elected to bowl first. Opener Alex Lees scored 31 runs but all the next six England batters registered single-digit scores. Saqib Mahmood and Jack Leach added 90 runs for the final wicket to take England’s total to 204. For the hosts, wicketkeeper batter Joshua da Silva scripted his first century in the Tests as West Indies reached a total of 297 runs, taking a lead of 93 runs in the process.
Kyle Mayers dismantled the England side in the second innings as he took five wickets for 18 runs in 17 overs with nine maidens. Alex Lees again scored 31 runs, while Jonny Bairstow amassed 22 runs off 82 deliveries. Kemar Roach took two wickets with the visitors getting bundled out for just 120 runs. The Caribbean openers finished off the formality, chasing down the 28-run target as England had a forgettable outing with the bat. The hosts won the series 1-0 as England’s disastrous and poor form in the longest format of the game continued. While Joshua da Silva was declared the Player of the Match, skipper Kraigg Brathwaite was adjudged the Player of the Series.
