India’s stylish and charismatic left-hand batsman Yuvraj Singh has been out of the Indian team for a while now and he has been training hard for a comeback into the national side. However, leaving the cricket aside, this time Yuvraj is in news for some legal matters. Recently, his estranged sister-in-law Akanksha Sharma had filed case of domestic violence against him and his family members, brother Zorawar Singh (husband of Akanksha) and mother Shabnam Singh. However, the Indian cricketer’s lawyer revealed that no case was filed against Yuvraj and his mother.

Speaking about the incident, Yuvi’s mother Shabnam Singh admitted that she finds it very awkward that Akanksha is reporting this incident a too late. She also revealed that it is very painful and hurting when people ask about the case filed against the family especially Yuvraj Singh. The main query of the mother is what is Akanksha fighting for after two years, as the couple Akanksha Sharma and Zorawar Singh got separated in 2015.

It is very painful for us

Yuvraj’s mother also admitted that he has been always nice to his sister-in-law and this complaint filing incident is quite painful for us. “What has Yuvraj got to do with all this? The only relationship he has with Akanksha is that Zorawar happens to be his younger brother. This is such a torture when people call us saying, ‘Has Yuvraj been arrested?’” “We want to ask, what is she fighting for after two years? Clearly, Akanksha is not fighting for her marriage or [for] Zorawar here. What justice is she seeking [through] these baseless allegations?” said mother Shabnam as quoted by Hindustan Times.

“This is so contradictory. In all her interviews and also on Bigg Boss, Akanksha has maintained that Yuvi has been always nice to her, like a brother and a guide. And now she has eaten her words for reasons known to one and all,” she added.

The real meaning of the complaint

The cricketer’s family lawyer, Damanbir Singh Sobti explained the detailed accusations and meanings of the complaint filed by ex-Big Boss contestant Akanksha Sharma. “Akanksha has just filed a domestic violence petition. There’s no culpability fixed, there is no booking, no criminal FIR, and no inquiry. You can also file a petition against a dead person and put a Rs 10 stamp on it and get a notice issued by misstating [anything],” he said.

“Zorawar is the one who got sick and tired of Akanksha’s mental cruelty and drug abuse. As an individual, regardless of whose brother and son he is, he’s first a husband, who wanted divorce from his wife. And so, without going to the media or leveling allegations, he quietly filed a divorce petition,” added the family lawyer.
