'Woke up to a personal message from PM Modi' - Chris Gayle extends wishes to India on 73rd Republic Day
I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day, Gayle tweeted.
The Universe boss Chris Gayle came up with a special message for the Indians as the country is celebrating its 73rd Republic day today (January 26). The-42 year-old has a huge fan base around the world and is one of the most celebrated cricketers in India due to his phenomenal display in IPL over the years. He will go down as one of the legends of the IPL as he has never failed to entertain the crowd with his huge six hitting.
Gayle is one of the hardest strikers of the cricket ball and holds various records in the T20 format. He recently played for West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2021 but could not contribute much with the bat in what is believed to be last international outing. Though he hasn’t yet announced his retirement. The big left-hander has represented the West Indies side in 103 Tests, 301 ODIs and 79 T20 internationals so far and he has a fabulous batting record as well.

Gayle tweeted that he had woken up with a personal message from India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in a way, he also ensured that the people get to know the closeness of him with India and the fans. He also brought up his wishes for the country in their 73rd Republic day and it certainly goes as a special note for all the cricketing fans.
“I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day. I woke up to a personal message from Prime Minister Modi @narendramodi reaffirming my close personal ties with him and to the people of India. Congratulations from the Universe Boss and nuff love.” Gayle tweeted on Wednesday.
Gayle did not register for the IPL 2022 mega auction recently which means the IPL 2021 could have been his last as well. He has played for various franchises including the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab over the years and it remains to be seen if he does make an entry next year.
