Women's Caribbean Premier League 2024
The third edition of the WCPL (Women’s Premier League) is all set to begin. The marquee event will kick off on Thursday, August 22. Unlike the men’s competition, the WCPL is played only between three teams in the tournament.
The three teams will participate in six matches during the group stages of the competition with the top two sides facing off in the final, which is scheduled to be held on August 30.
It is worth noting that the previous season of the competition was won by Barbados Royals women after they defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors women in the summit clash of the competition. Interestingly, Royals women won three out of the four matches that they played in the group stage, whereas Amazon Warriors women won two matches and lost the remaining two.
With the third season of the competition approaching, all three teams will aim to put in a good showing and get their hands on the title. Guyana Amazon Warriors women remains the only side to have not won the title so far, while Trinbago Knight Riders women won the inaugural season, whereas Royals emerged victorious in 2023.
The season begins with a rematch of 2023’s final as Barbados Royals women take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in game 1 at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on August 22.
