Wriddhiman Saha says it is time to move on from the controversies of the Test series
"I've always enjoyed sledging in any format of the game, even during domestic matches," Saha said.
The heated and volatile Border-Gavaskar series may have ended, but the Indian and Australian cricketers will again be sharing the dressing rooms in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, after his team’s triumph in the most competitive Test series in recent times, feels it’s time to “move forward”.
Team India’s Saha and opener Murali Vijay will be sharing the dressing room with Australia’s Glenn Maxwell in the Kings XI Punjab outfit. Maxwell – the same guy who very unethically mocked Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli by imitating his shoulder injury
Saha said that the Test series rivalry would not be carried forward into the T20 league. When asked how he and Vijay will get along with Maxwell, who came under a lot of criticism after the Ranchi Test, Saha told Xtratime.com, “I do not look behind. As professional cricketers, we need to move forward. We will see and wait for the team instructions when I join the franchise.”
When asked about how he manages to avoid sledging, he said, “I’ve always enjoyed sledging in any format of the game, even during domestic matches.”
The Bengal wicketkeeper-batsman had nothing to say on Kohli’s friendship comments on the Australians, Saha said: “It was his opinion.”
But he expressed despondency over Brad Hodge’s comment that Kohli, who rested in the fourth and final Test due to a shoulder injury, was saving himself for IPL. “This is rubbish. He is not someone who will shy away from the action. He was not on the field but was constantly involved.”
He also said that this series was a tough one and that Australia’s records show they are a tough side, and after getting the better of a tough side, the team gets a lot of confidence.
The Punjab outfit has very rarely enjoyed a good season in the IPL and will be looking to turn the tables around this time.
