Wriddhiman Saha's glove work has always been good: Ajit Agarkar

The Indian players are not really finding it tough to get past the Lankans as they have already secured the Test series and is now aiming a clean sweep. The current lot of players donning the white jersey of Indian team know what exactly their job is and trying to play their part in the team’s ruthless domination. Since the former Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has retired from Test cricket, Bengal based wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha has been the go to man for skipper Virat Kohli in the purest format of the game.

Saha may not be very efficient with the bat, but his extraordinary glove work is the main reason why he has been a mainstay in the Indian Test team since Dhoni’s departure. The 32-year old from Shaktigarh has a Test average of 33, but his main prowess lies in wicketkeeping. When on one hand Dhoni is known for his uncanny and cunning glove work, his successor at the Test team is a pure technician, with sound techniques and composure. The looks of the man might be-fool any batsman but they will be astonished when they see that the slim figure is simply flying to take a magnificent catch.

Ajit Agarkar’s views

Ajit Agarkar was a teammate of Wriddhiman in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad during the early years of the Indian Premier League. In a show called Turn & Bounce by ESPNcricinfo, the former Indian pacer said “At the top of my head I can’t think of anyone better than him (Wriddhiman Saha). His glove work has always been good. He is just a proper keeper.”

“I mean, he is grown up being a keeper and then obviously his batting come to the form but I am sure he spends all his energies being a good keeper. I have played a fair bit with him at KKR and against him, you know, when you play domestic cricket, and he always had good hands,” he further added.
