Chris Gayle was at his stormy best in the Big Bash League today, playing for the Melbourne Renegades against the strong Adelaide Strikers team Gayle smashed the fastest fifty in Twenty20 cricket and equalled Yuvraj Singh’s 9 years old record. His team was asked to chase 171 and coming into open the innings he just went behind the Strikers bowling and left them shattered smashing his 50 in 12 balls. Gayle managed to only equal Yuvraj’s record by scoring his fifty in just a dozen deliveries but failed to overtake him.

Though Gayle who always has a thing or two to say after each game and win didn’t come up with something after this knock, it was his Indian friend and the record holder Yuvraj who shot a tweet to the dasher. Yuvi in his tweet said that he was disappointed that Chris Gayle got his fifty in 12 balls. ‘Kaka make sure you get it in ten balls next time’ he wrote. In the same tweet, Yuvraj also tagged South African batsman AB de Villiers stating that may be even he can do it.

It’s a pleasant gesture and goes on to show that the Indian southpaw isn’t happy that his record was safe but is rather willing to see someone amongst Gayle and AB de Villiers play an even better knock and shatter it.

Yuvraj Singh is currently preparing to join the touring Indian team in Australia, he has been picked in the Indian squad that will play three matches T20I against the hosts. This might well prove as the best chance for the champion player to prove his mettle once again and own a permanent spot in the Indian team.
