Yuvraj Singh to take a call on his career after the 2019 World Cup

Unarguably one of India’s most iconic limited-overs all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh has time and again risen to the occasion on the biggest of stages. From captaining IPL teams and being an integral part of India’s successful 2007 World T20 campaign to helping the Men in Blue lift the 50-over World Cup, Yuvi has achieved it all.

However, his recent dip in form has kept him out of the Indian squad for a while now.  Yuvraj Singh last played in an ODI for India in June 2017. However, the left-hander has said that he will take a call on his career only after the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. The all-rounder implied that he has been playing for the country for nearly two decades and will have to lower the curtains someday.

The 36-year-old said as per quotes on TOI, “I am going to look to play till 2019, whatever cricket I get to play. I will take a call when that year is over. Everybody has to take a decision after a while. I have been playing international cricket since 2000, it has been almost 17-18 years on and off. So, I will definitely take a call after 2019.”

Yuvraj Singh is currently plying his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).The left-hander who is remembered for his many matchwinning knocks was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise last season but returned to his home-state Punjab for the ongoing edition. The Preity Zinta co-owned Kings XI Punjab was the lone bidder for the player as they acquired his service for Rs2 crores, his base price.

Yuvraj is a proven fighter both on and off the pitch– a trait best illustrated by his successful battle against cancer. And this serves as a testament, that like always, Yuvraj is strong enough to survive the test of time.

Now with Yuvraj in the later stages of his career, it can only be so long before the dynamic all-rounder begins to decline, but he will always be remembered as one of the greatest cricketers of all time.
