India’s tour of South Africa was full of hustle by both teams. It saw many great performances and some ordinary outings too. India won the inaugural Test match of the tour and dominated the Proteas in Centurion. But after that win, India had no reason to be happy as they got thrashed by 2-1 in the Test series and whitewashed in the three-match ODI series.

South Africa tour was the first of India’s busy calendar in 2022. India will now play a limited-overs series against the West Indies for three ODIs, followed by three T20Is. It will be interesting to see what squad the selectors will pick for the ODI series. A few players from the South Africa series are expected to be dropped and that will make way for some new players to feature in the squad.

Here are three players who might be dropped for the series against West Indies

1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The bowler who was once called the king of swing bowling looked helpless against the Proteas. He was not bowling in full rhythm and never looked comfortable. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has just recovered from his hamstring injury and it was clearly seen that he needs some more time and recovery to play international cricket.

He played the first two ODIs in the South Africa series and the batters dominated him. The pacer went wicketless in both games. He bowled 10 overs in the first ODI and was a bit expensive, giving 64 runs, while in the second ODI, he even not bowled the full quota as he got hammered for 67 runs in the eight overs.

Before the South Africa series, Kumar last played an ODI in July when India toured Sri Lanka. He played two ODIs in that series and was wicketless in the first ODI. In the second one, he looked quite good and picked three wickets for 54 runs. Mohammed Siraj is warming the bench and Mohammed Shami will return in the West Indies series as well. All of these scenarios can lead to the senior pacer’s exit for the West Indies series.
