With the second leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 being around the corner, all the eight teams are gearing up to make a mark. The gala T20 competition will resume on September 19 with all the remaining matches taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are indeed one of the teams to watch out for in the season as they enjoyed a sensational run in the first leg.

With five wins in seven games, RCB were third in the team standings at the time of season suspension. This means the Virat Kohli-led side needs just three victories in their remaining seven league-stage games to officially secure a place in the playoffs. Needless to mention, the RCB players will head into the competition with their heads high.

However, there’s still a long way to go in the tournament. Hence, Kohli and his boys shouldn’t be complacent by any means. Also, RCB has a knack of losing momentum at the business end of the season. This is one of the main reasons why the IPL trophy is still elusive for the Bangalore-based side.

Meanwhile, here are 5 Blunders RCB shouldn’t commit in IPL 2021 UAE leg

1. Not using Washington Sundar in powerplay overs

Dark clouds are looming over Washington Sundar’s participation in the UAE as the young off-spinner sustained a finger injury during a warm-up game ahead of the five-match Test series between England and India. Sundar has indeed been a vital cog of the RCB line-up in the past few years.

Hence, his absence could dent RCB’s campaign significantly. While nothing can be done if Sundar doesn’t recover at time, RCB should make his best use if he’s available. With pacers like Mohammed Siraj, Kyle Jamieson, and Navdeep Saini in ranks, skipper Kohli might be tempted to give the new ball to his pace merchants.

However, Sundar should definitely be used in the powerplay overs as he can choke the scoring rate with his tight bowling. Although the offie is not a massive turner of the ball, his accurate bowling has challenged many prominent batters. His economy rate of 6.94 in IPL narrates the entire story. Hence, Kohli should use him with the field restrictions on.
