5 costliest players of IPL10 who are yet to play a game

The player auction for the 10th edition of IPL saw some overseas bowlers bagging a huge amount of money. The English all-rounder Ben Stokes was picked by Rising Pune Supergiant for a whopping INR 14.5 crore making him the costliest player of the season. Other players who attracted high bids were Tymal Mills, Trent Boult, Chris Woakes and Kagiso Rabada. All these players featured for their respective sides consistently in the season so far.

As far as the Indian contingent in the auction was concerned, all the big names were already retained by their respective sides and not too many huge stars were up for grabs. There were still a few domestic players who were available who had made names for themselves either from smaller T20 leagues or by consistent performances in the domestic tournaments. They attracted a good amount of bids but the franchise did not give them a chance to feature in the playing XI.

#5 Rishi Dhawan – INR 55 Lakh

The all-rounder was available for a base price of INR 30 Lakh and the Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for INR 55 Lakh in the auction. But the KKR squad is full of all-rounders and even a world class player like Shakib Al Hasan has been made to sit out in numerous matches and so, it’s been difficult for Dhawan to find a place in the XI.

He had played earlier for Kings XI Punjab and then moved to Mumbai Indians where he made some useful contributions. The 27-year-old is a handy medium pace bowler and a useful batsman in the lower middle-order. A good run in the domestic cricket meant that he was picked in the Indian ODI and T20 squads to Austalia and Zimbabwe.
