It is important to have a backup keeper for Rishabh Pant, similar to the role that Dinesh Karthik played for MS Dhoni this year in the World Cup. The player who could fill in this spot could be the explosive Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper-batsman, Ishan Kishan. In 2015, he went on to captain India for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup. His oozing demeanor and on-field attitude makes him one of the rising stars of Indian cricket.

He has played a pivotal role in the Jharkhand Ranji team for nearly half a decade now. In a 2016-17 Ranji Trophy match, Ishan scored a mammoth 273 inclusive of the highest number of sixes hit by any batsman in an innings in the tournament. He later entered the history books to become the player with the highest score by any batsman for Jharkhand.

His exploiting form found consistency in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 making him the highest run-getter for Jharkhand. Subsequently, Kishan was named in the India C squad for the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy and helped the team to win their maiden title. The flamboyant batsman didn’t manage to get going in this year’s IPL edition. Nevertheless, if Kishan maintains his hard-hitting abilities and contributes impressively behind the wickets then pairing him up with Pant in the Indian setup, can prove to be lethal.
