India plays a lot of cricket these days. In fact, they are on the road for the most part of the year, playing different formats. Moreover, there is about seven weeks of the IPL as well across March, April, and May every year. Thus, the schedule for the players is rigorous.

In fact, in the recent past, skipper Virat Kohli has often spoken about the need to take rest at certain stages to keep themselves fresh. Managing the workload is one of the key areas to address for the Indian team management in modern-day cricket.

However, there are a few players who have found it tough and have been dealing with injuries. They are even overlooked for certain formats. Thus, there may be a few Indian players who might be considering to retire from one format. Here are five such players.

1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar – Test cricket

For the first half of his career, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was largely a swing bowler who bowled out early in white-ball cricket and was a conditions-specific bowler. However, over the last few years, he has really evolved himself into a complete bowler. He’s added an extra yard or two in his pace and his swing is back too.

The Meerut lad became India’s premier white-ball bowler alongside Jasprit Bumrah and was regularly playing Test cricket as well. But over the course of the last 18 months or so, injuries have plagued his career and pushed him back. Every time he comes back, Bhuvneshwar is hit with a new injury setback.

In fact, at the moment, he is recovering from a groin injury which he suffered in December last year. The 30-year-old pacer hasn’t featured in a single Test match since January 2018. He has been in and out of the shorter formats as well. Hence, with him constantly facing injury issues, Bhuvneshwar might well consider retiring from one of the formats.
