Since the rumours of the rift between him and Virat Kohli broke out, Rohit Sharma has been a hot topic of discussion on social media. There is a group of people who back him and want him to replace Virat as the Indian captain. On the other hand, there have also been several discussions and debates over his exclusion from the Test team despite him being in terrific form.

While Virat Kohli claims that everything is fine between the two, Rohit Sharma’s actions suggest otherwise. In the last few months, he has created several major controversies on social media through his actions. These moves clearly indicate that he is not on the same page as the skipper and the management.

Here are five instances when Rohit Sharma created controversy:

1. Rohit Sharma’s potential bio-bubble breach

Team India travelled to Australia for the limited-overs series and Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the 2020-21 season. Right when the four-match Test series was leveled at 1-1 in the first two Tests, Indian cricketers were found to be in off-field trouble.

Rohit Sharma, who was injured till that point in time, joined the team for the final two Tests and was appointed as vice-captain of the Test team for the final two Tests. That was the time when the Hitman visited a restaurant with Gill, Shaw, Pant, and Saini in Melbourne on New Year’s Day.

A fan named Navaldeep Singh spotted the cricketers in the restaurant and paid their bill as well. He posted a video of players enjoying the meal and also tweeted the whole incident, which was quick to trend on social media. It was tweeted that Rishabh Pant hugged the fan.

If it turns out to be true, the players have ended up breaking the protocol laid by Cricket Australia keeping COVID-19 in mind. The players are only allowed to eat outside any restaurant and are not allowed to sit indoors due to the ongoing COVID-19 regulations. It was reported that the Indian players were sitting indoors, which was a clear protocol breach.

The Indian cricket board was quick to review the whole incident alongside CA.
