6 New India entrants in BCCI's annual contract list
Most of the names in the list feature in the Grade C category.
Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar has come leaps and bounds, especially after the World Cup. Though he hasn’t yet shown his calibre in ODIs, the Rajasthan pacer has wreaked havoc for the T20I team. In the shortest format, the speedster has 17 wickets in 10 matches.
In only his second game in the format against the West Indies back in August 2019, Chahar picked up three wickets, giving away a mere four runs. Then in November, he notched a six-wicket haul, including a hat-trick against Bangladesh at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.
The pacer’s figures read 3.2-0-7-6 and it came at a stage when the visitors’ Mohammad Naim was threatening to take the game away. The hard work the seamer has put has started to pay dividends as BCCI blessed him with a central contract and he put him in Grade C.
