6 New India entrants in BCCI's annual contract list
Most of the names in the list feature in the Grade C category.
Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur has been grilling and grinding in India’s domestic circuit for quite a few years. After loads of hard work, he got a chance during the tour of Sri Lanka in August 2017. From there, the Mumbai fast bowler has played a solitary Test, eight ODIs and 10 T20Is where he has picked up 0, eight and 13 wickets respectively.
Of late, the 28-year-old has flourished with the willow as well. In ODIs and T20Is, Thakur bats at strike-rates of 162.50 and 275. The fact that he has played the cameos under pressure has established his credentials.
Thakur is currently a part of the national squad in the ODI series against Australia. Thakur has now made his way into BCCI’s centrally contracted players. Along with Iyer, Sundar, Saini and Chahar, Thakur also got a Grade C contract.
