Alex Hales and Jake Ball join the PSL bandwagon
Alex Hales, Jake Ball, and David Wiese have become the latest players to go ahead and join the Pakistan Super League bandwagon. Launched recently by the Pakistan cricket board, the PSL has become an important part of the cricketing fraternity. What is more impressive is the simple fact that the league has been able to attract some of the world’s best players as well as catapult a proposal to have the matches in Pakistan.
However, unlike the model of the rival Indian Premier League, the PSL has a different way of picking and choosing the players and allocating them for each side. Although an auction is not the model, the PSL has a draft wherein the teams pick the best players who are available in the draft. The Lahore Qalandars, who finished last in the previous year’s PSL will be allowed to make the first 20 picks in the draft. Consequently, Islamabad United, who was crowned the champions will be making the final few picks.
With the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League expected to be bigger and better, the representatives have gone on to sign the best players in the world at the moment. South Africa all-rounder Wayne Parnell and New Zealand’s Anton Devcich have been the latest to sign the league as of the previous week.

Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum and Eoin Morgan have also signed on for the upcoming season while the participation of Shane Watson and Chris Gayle remains to be seen. A report from The Tribune also read, “Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Johnson is also expected to be part of the second edition. Separately, PSL Player Recruitment Head Faisal Mirza is looking to bring in more big names. The PSL Governing Council has also decided to raise players’ salaries by 10% across all categories.”
