IPL 2023: 5 players who might not feature due to injury concerns
There are certain top-drawer players who might not feature in IPL 2023 due to their respective injuries.
3. Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar is one of the gun swing bowlers going around in the Indian circuit. He has featured in 24 T20Is and bagged 29 wickets at an economy of 8.17. The ace pacer has been superb in the IPL arena as well and bagged 59 wickets in 63 games at an economy of 7.8.
However, Chahar has been plagued by injuries more often than not. He was ruled out of the entire 15th edition of the cash-rich league due to a back injury. He returned to the international fold in August 2022 in the ODI series against Zimbabwe.
The ace pacer was gradually returning to his groove after a prolonged injury lay-off and was one of the stand-by players for the T20 World Cup 2022. But Chahar could not fly to Australia after hurting his back and hip. Then again in the second game of the ODI series against Bangladesh, he suffered a hamstring injury and is currently nursing the same.
Chennai Super Kings had invested a whopping sum of INR 14 crore to acquire Chahar at the 2022 mega auction and it remains to be seen that the Agra-born will don the yellow jersey in the upcoming edition.
