Asia Cup 2023: 5 Sachin Tendulkar records that Rohit Sharma might break in the tournament
In the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, Rohit will get a chance to break some incredible records set by former India opener Sachin Tendulkar in the continental tournament.
1. Record of scoring the most runs for India
Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run-scorer for India in the Asia Cup with 971 runs in 21 innings of 23 ODIs, at a strike rate of 85.47. These numbers also make him the third-leading run-getter in the tournament, following Sri Lanka’s former players Kumara Sangakkara and Sanath Jayasuriya.
In the 2004 edition of the tournament, he became the highest run-getter for his side, chalking up 281 runs with three half-centuries at a strike rate of 72.42. Currently, Rohit is the second-highest run-scorer for India in the Asia Cup, with 745 runs in 21 innings of 22 matches, at a strike rate of 84.94.
The India captain requires 227 runs to score in the upcoming tournament to leave Tendulkar behind in the Asia Cup. In the 2018 installment of the tournament, the India skipper scored more than 300 runs in only five games. This year, if he delivers a similar kind of performance, it’s possible for the veteran to surpass the former India stalwart.
