Sri Lanka’s former wicketkeeper batter Kumara Sangakkara has scored the most half-centuries in the Asia Cup with eight fifties. Following him, Sachin Tendulkar is in second place with seven half-centuries. In the 1990 Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka at the iconic Eden Gardens, he scored his maiden half-century of the continental tournament and helped India to win the title.

In the 1997 Asia Cup final, he again scored a half-century against Sri Lanka but this time, India lost that game as Sri Lanka batters outplayed the bowlers. The Master Blaster played his last Asia Cup game in 2012 against Pakistan in Mirpur. Playing this game, he scored a half-century and it also became his last appearance in ODI cricket.

This year, Rohit Sharma will get a chance to shatter both Sangakkara and Tendulkar’s half-century records and become the man with the most fifties in the Asia Cup. In the 2018 Asia Cup, Rohit scored a ton and a couple of half-centuries. This time, Indian cricket supporters will expect their skipper to take the opponents’ bowling unit to the cleaners and register the record of the most half-centuries in the Asia Cup to his name.
