Sachin Tendulkar registered a lot of records to his name in his vast international career and the former India player is the most successful batter for India in the Asia Cup as well. The veteran scored more than 900 runs in six editions of the continental tournament. The Master Blaster retired from One-Day International (ODI) cricket in December 2012, after playing his last ODI against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2012.

In the upcoming Asia Cup edition, Tendulkar’s batting record might get shattered by India captain, Rohit Sharma. The India skipper has played a lot of cricket in the Asia Cup and has produced good numbers consistently. Noting his marvellous batting numbers, it could be said that Rohit might surpass the legend in the tournament coming ahead.

Sachin Tendulkar played Asia Cup from 1990 to 2012 and during this period, he appeared in six installments of the tournament. The veteran played 23 ODIs in the tournament and scored 971 runs in 21 innings at an average of 51.10. With this sensational average, Tendulkar is only behind Sri Lanka’s former opener, Sanath Jayasuriya, whose average is 53.04.

However, in the upcoming Asia Cup, Rohit Sharma could surpass Tendulkar as the former holds the batting average of 46.56 in the tournament. With this incredible number, Rohit is in the fourth spot in terms of the highest average in the Asia Cup. As an Indian, he is in the second position, following the Master Blaster.

In the 2018 Asia Cup, Rohit accumulated runs at an average of 93.51 and became the leading run-scorer in the competition. His swashbuckling batting display in 2018 boosted his average and also made him the apple of Indian fans’ eyes.
