Chetan Sharma bagged three wickets in India’s successful campaign in the 1984 Asia Cup. Against Sri Lanka, he gave a perfect start to the team dismissing opener Brendon Kuruppu, Sri Lanka skipper Duleep Mendis and Vinothen John. Riding on his disciplined bowling, the team wrapped up Sri Lanka on 96.

Chetan player for India till 1994 and following his retirement, he became a cricket commentator. He also started his pace bowling cricket academy in Haryana’s Panchkula but in 2009, it got closed. Chetan also entered politics in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, contesting on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket. However, he lost the election.

After his failed political innings with BSP, he joined BJP and got the post of the party’s sports cell convener. From November 2020 to February 2023, he also served the Indian cricket team as chairman of the selection committee. In February 2023, Zee News performed a sting operation in which Chetan made some shocking revelations regarding Indian cricketers. Following this incident, he resigned from his post.
