IPL 2023: 5 Teams that might pick Cameron Green in auction

Cameron Green has taken the international circuit by storm with his spectacular performances. The 23-year-old has featured in 13 ODIs and scored 290 runs at a strike rate of 90.34. On the bowling front, he has bagged 11 wickets at an economy of 5.03. In the T20Is, the ace all-rounder has played eight matches thus far and smashed 139 runs at a stunning strike rate of 173.75. Also, he has picked up five scalps in the shortest format.

The Australian all-rounder will enter the IPL 2023 auction and has kept himself in the INR 2 crore bracket. This will be the first time he will take part in the marquee event. Green has been a match-winner for Australia with both bat and ball across formats and many franchises would like to have him at their disposal. 

Here are the five teams that might target Cameron Green at the auction:

5. Sunrisers Hyderabad 

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a disappointing campaign in the 15th edition of the lucrative T20 tournament. They failed to string consecutive wins under their belt and finished the league stage at the eighth position with six victories in 14 games. Following a poor season, SRH let go of 12 players from their squad, which includes Kane Williamson. The Kiwi batter had a miserable campaign last season and could score only 216 runs in 13 games at a strike rate of 93.51.

The release list also comprised Romario Shepherd, who was quite mediocre with his performances. Though the West Indies all-rounder did a decent job with the bat and scored 58 runs in three games at a strike rate of 141.46, he conceded runs at an economy of 10.89. 

The release of both Williamson and Shepherd has created multiple voids in the SRH camp i.e. the need for a top-order batter and a multi-faceted player. Hence, the team management might eye Green as Australia's all-round prodigy fulfills both requirements.

The 23-year-old has been phenomenal in the T20Is at the opening slot and thus, could be a great option to partner Abhishek Sharma at the top. Also, Green is a wily customer with the ball and can play the role of a fifth bowler for SRH. Therefore, the Hyderabad franchise could go all guns blazing to sign him at the marquee event.
