IPL 2023: Flop XI from fourth week
These players looked out of their rhythm in the fourth week of the IPL 2023.
10. Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav adds strength to KKR’s pace battery with his immense experience. In 2022, the veteran proved himself with 16 wickets for Knight Riders in 12 matches at an economy of 7.06. Rewarding for his efficiency, the KKR team management retained him for the 2023 edition of the league.
As a senior player, his responsibility is to maintain consistency with his pace and hunt wickets for his team regularly. However, the speedster has failed to be influential for the two-time title winners in this competition. In a home game against powerful CSK, Umesh got punished for his indisciplined bowling. Bowling for three overs, the veteran couldn’t scalp any heads and got hammered for 35 runs.
In the next contest against RCB, he bowled only one over, and in that too, he leaked 19 runs after getting thrashed by both Kohli and du Plessis. Following his terrible over, captain Nitish Rana didn’t give the ball to the 35-year-old again in the match. As Umesh is an important weapon of KKR’s pace armoury, the team management will expect him to get his rhythm back in the upcoming contests.
