In this competition, MI’s campaign has gone through many ups and downs as their premier players haven’t delivered according to their reputation. Ishan Kishan, one of the key MI stalwarts, has failed to justify his role as an opener thus far, scoring only 183 runs in seven matches.

MI started week four with their 13-run defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings (PBKS), at the Wankhede Stadium. In the absence of Shikhar Dhawan, Sam Curran led Punjab from the front and accumulated 214 runs on the board after losing the toss to the MI captain, Rohit Sharma. Following the massive total, the MI team management was expecting their openers Kishan and Rohit to have a blast. Realising his duty, Rohit exuded confidence with his bat but Kishan threw his wicket after scoring just one run.

After getting bashed by PBKS, MI got a humiliating 55-run defeat from GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This time too, Mumbai were chasing a mammoth total of 208 runs due to their horrendous bowling show. To pull off the contest, MI required a quality start from their openers Rohit and Kishan but both batters got tamed by GT bowlers. This time, the left-handed batter went back to the pavilion after amassing 13 runs off 21 deliveries.
