Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started the fourth week with their seven-run win against RR at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The victory brought joy to the faces of RCB supporters but despite winning the game, the team had giant problems to address. Shahbaz Ahmed, who is known for his all-round skills, has been assigned the role of a pure batter by the team in this tournament.

Against RR, Ahmed was promoted to number three in the batting order after the early loss of Virat Kohli on the first ball of the match. For the 28-year-old, it was a perfect opportunity to shine with his bat and become a valuable asset for the team. However, Nadeem seemed nervous and gave his wicket to Trent Boult after scoring only two runs off four balls.

In the next contest against KKR, RCB were pursuing a gigantic total of 201 runs and this time, Faf du Plessis departed early after contributing 17 runs to the team. Despite witnessing Shahbaz's previous game’s failure, the RCB team management trusted the left-handed batter again to reinforce the team in the number three position. However, Shahbaz again left the team in a perilous situation after scoring two runs off just five deliveries.
