IPL 2024 Auction: 3 CSK released players whom Mumbai Indians could target
MI have released some key players and might eye some of the talent CSK have let go.
Before the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on December 19, all ten IPL teams announced players they would release and retain. The ten IPL franchises released a total of 81 players on November 26. The Punjab Kings had the fewest players released, while the Kolkata Knight Riders had the most.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also off-loaded some players they didn’t want due reasons which included - Ben Stokes, Bhagath Varma, Subhranshu Senapati, Dwaine Pretorius, Ambati Rayudu, Kyle Jamieson, Akash Singh, and Sisanda Magala.
The released players might be of interest to other franchises and who are better than CSK’s rivals Mumbai Indians (MI). MI have released some key players and might eye some of the talent CSK have let go of.
Here are the 3 CSK-released players MI could target in the IPL 2024 auction:
1. Dwaine Pretorius
Dwaine Pretorius is a talented former South African all-rounder. He featured in quite a few matches for Proteas, but for the lack of consistent opportunities, he announced his international retirement earlier in 2023. Even at CSK, Pretorius only played a handful of games, not getting a long run in the XI.
This might change if Mumbai Indians buy him in the IPL 2024 auction. Pretorius is a bowler capable of hitting high 140 kph speeds and is more than a handy batter in the lower order. He can tonk the ball pretty hard and even partner with an established batter in case of a collapse. He could be a handy player in case MI decide to invest in him.
