4. India versus Bangladesh in 2011- 2

In the inaugural match of the World Cup 2011, India vanquished Bangladesh by 87 runs in Mirpur and registered their maiden victory against the neighbouring cricket nation in World Cups. Virender Sehwag became the Player of the Match for his fabulous knock of 175 off 140.

In the match, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and invited the Men in Blue to bat first. Shakib’s decision proved wrong as Sehwag, along with Virat Kohli, looked relentless towards the Bangla bowlers. Shakib dismissed Sehwag on 175 but Kohli stood at the crease until the end and went back to the pavilion with his unbeaten 100-run knock.

Sehwag’s remarkable 175 and Kohli’s maiden World Cup century put India in a comfortable position as the Men in Blue posted 370 runs in their 50 overs. Chasing the mammoth total, the Bangla side got wrapped up on 283 and handed India a solid 87-run win.
