1. South Africa versus Sri Lanka in 2023- 3

In the fourth match of the World Cup 2023, South Africa had a great time against the Dasun Shanaka-led Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. On Delhi’s flat track, the Proteas were put to bat first by Shanaka after losing the toss. Following South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma’s early departure on eight, wicketkeeper batter Quinton de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen took Sri Lanka’s bowling attack to the cleaners.

Both batters played some good strokes and built a 204-run partnership. De Kock walked back to the pavilion after amassing 100 runs off 84 deliveries, while Dussen also played a spectacular knock of 108 off 110 and became the highest run-scorer in the match. At the end of South Africa’s innings, it was Aiden Markram who stole the show with his rapid innings of 106 runs from 54 balls.

The three centurions helped South Africa pile up 428 runs at the end of their batting innings. This was the first time in the ODI WC history that three batters smashed hundreds in an innings. Sri Lanka got folded on 326 in 44.5 overs and got a massive 102-run defeat at the end of the day. Markram, who broke into record books, became the recipient of the Player of the Match award for his breathtaking batting show.
