Dasun Shanaka will hold the reins of the Sri Lanka cricket team in the 2023 World Cup. As a captain, he will look to be exceptional in all departments of the game to set an example for other players to give their best. Shanaka has the experience of 67 ODIs in which he has racked up 1204 runs and 27 wickets.

In this tournament, his job will be to reinforce his team in the lower middle order with his fine batting talent. The Sri Lanka captain scored his maiden and only ODI hundred in India at the Barsapara Stadium, this year, during his team’s tour of India. In recent matches, the 32-year-old failed to be among the runs but in the humongous one-day event, the Sri Lanka team will want decent innings from his bat.

As he bats down the order, he will be expected to utilise his aggressive batting skills and play match-finishing innings when required. Batting at number six, his strike rate is above 95.00 after 25 matches. Talking about his total numbers in this position, he has scored 593 runs with two centuries and a fifty.
