WPL 2023: Flop playing XI from inaugural season
The maiden Women's Premier League concluded on March 26 with Mumbai Indians defeating Delhi Capitals to lift the trophy.
7. Taniya Bhatia (wicketkeeper)
Taniya Bhatia is known for her excellent wicketkeeping skills and batting temperament in the lower order. Going by her numbers, Delhi Capitals (DC) picked her up at her base price of INR 30 lakh. In the first couple of games, she didn’t have to come out to bat as the top-order batters took care of the proceedings with outstanding batting displays.
Against an unbeaten Mumbai Indians (MI) at DY Patil Stadium, she took strike after a top-order collapse but couldn't make much of the opportunity. She got dismissed by Issy Wong after scoring just four runs off nine deliveries and failed to have her team’s back. In the next couple of games, Bhatia again stayed in the dugout as her team cruised to successive victories.
The 25-year-old got another opportunity to show her efficiency against Gujarat Giants in the 14th match played at the Brabourne Stadium. This time too, she failed to create an impact as Ashleigh Gardner got the better of her.
