Zimbabwe managed to outclass the inexperienced Indian team in the first T20I at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 6. After winning the toss, India contained the hosts to a meager total of 115 as Ravi Bishnoi dazzled with a four-wicket haul. Things went upside down when India came out to chase as they lost wickets in bunches. Shubman Gill saw his batters succumb as he tried breaking the shackles from the other end.

The 23-run stand between Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi for the seventh wicket was the highest partnership in the Indian innings. Apart from Gill and Sundar, who scored 31 and 27 respectively, no other batter reached the double-digits. Bishnoi stressed that failure in building partnerships cost India the game.

"We collapsed. The lack of partnerships made a difference. If we could have had 20-30 runs partnerships, the story could be different. The seniors handed the responsibility to us and it is our responsibility to take the flag ahead, we are trying our best,” said Bishnoi.

Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma stumble in debut game

Both teams have played nine T20Is so far and with this win, Zimbabwe have managed to add one more win to take their tally to three in head-to-head. It is worth noting that the hosts came into the game after a comprehensive eight-wicket win over Bangladesh and Sikandar Raza has been leading the team in the crucial series.

For Abhishek and Parag, the debut was a forgettable one as the batters departed scoring a duck and two runs, respectively.
