'Why did you guys finish the Test match in just three days?' - Ravi Ashwin reveals conversation with co-passenger after Delhi Test
Ashwin's co-passenger said that he felt bad after the game ended in three days.
In the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India registered a convincing victory over Australia and retained the trophy. On the third day of the match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Indian bowlers destroyed the Aussie batting line-up as the visitors' lineup skittled out for a mere 113. Ravindra Jadeja recorded his best figures with the ball clinching 7/42, while Ravichandran Ashwin also drew attention towards himself delivering a spell of 3/59 for the team.
With the incredible bowling performances of the all-rounders, Indian batters chased the low total before tea with six wickets in hand. Earlier, the first Test of the tournament, which was played in Nagpur, had also ended in three days with India crushing the Aussies by an innings and 132 runs.
Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin released a video on his YouTube channel and talked about the team’s amazing win in the Delhi Test. The right-arm off-spinner also revealed the conversation with a person who was his co-passenger with him on the flight he was travelling. The 36-year-old also revealed that the person asked him why did the Indian team finish the Test in three days.
“One of the guys who travelled with me on the flight was like, ‘Why did you guys finish the Test match in just three days? I feel bad. I replied, ‘Sir, two things have changed. One is the mentality of the cricketers. They wanna play fast-paced these days. They wanna score runs quickly," Ashwin revealed.

“Cricketers these days don’t wanna take time and then score runs. But just because of that, we should not compare both approaches and judge who is better. We should never compare across generations. Secondly, both of these games shouldn’t have ended in 3 days," he added.
After emphatic victories in both Tests, the now high-spirited India will look to pull off the series by beating the fragile Australian team in the third Test, which will be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore from March 1 to March 5.
