Former selector Sarandeep Singh discloses why MS Dhoni didn't get a farewell match

Former legendary skipper MS Dhoni stepped down from the international circuit in August 2020. The Indian cricket and fans went in a state of shock when the most celebrated skipper of India decided to hang boots as he announced the news on social media. While he announced his retirement, many experts and fans added that he deserves a great farewell but couldn’t get any.
In the recent turn of events, former India selector Sarandeep Singh threw light on Dhoni’s retirement and added why the captain cool couldn’t get a farewell match. He also revealed that MS was keen to ply his trade in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 which got postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Dhoni could not get a farewell due to the postponement of the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia last year. Dhoni retired as soon as this tournament was postponed due to Coronavirus.
“Had the World Cup been played last year, Dhoni would have definitely played in it and his farewell match would have happened,” said Sarandeep Singh in an exclusive conversation with News Nation.
MS Dhoni was accompanied by Suresh Raina while retiring
When Dhoni took the big decision to bid farewell to the international circuit, he was accompanied by his CSK and India teammate Suresh Raina. In fact, both of them were together in the CSK IPL 2020 camp at that time in the UAE. Talking about Ranchi Stalwart, he played 90 Tests and 350 ODIs for India. He was also part of 98 T20Is before moving out of the international circuit. He led India in 200 ODI matches and his last match as a captain came in the 2018 Asia Cup.
To fans’ joy and excitement, the beloved cricketer of India still plays in the Indian Premier League with his franchise CSK. In fact, he has been leading the yellow brigade ever since the inception of the Indian T20 league. He would be seen next guiding his team in the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
