It was an honour to meet the Dalai Lama: David Warner
"What a pleasure and honour to meet his holiness the Dalai Lama who greeted all of the Australian team with warmth, joy and wisdom," Warner wrote.
After the intensely fought 4 match Test series between India and Australia concluded in Dharamsala yesterday, all the Australian team members visited the Dalai Lama and David Warner conceded that it will be a memory which will stay with him for the rest of his life. He also added that he loved each and every moment of the hard fought series where fortunes fluctuated from one side to the other
Warner was not at his very best during the Test series and managed to score only 193 runs in 8 innings at a below par average of 24.12 with a solitary half-century. Despite his indifferent form, Australia performed brilliantly throughout the series despite most critics writing them off before the start of the series. The visitors were thoroughly competitive and gave the home team a run for their money before they eventually surrendered the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by a 2-1 margin.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Warner posted a picture with the spiritual leader with a caption which read, “On this trip another memory I will not forget. What a pleasure and honour to meet his holiness the Dalai Lama who greeted all of the Australian team with warmth, joy and wisdom. What an amazing person!!!! #peaceofmind✌ #oneness #spiritual.”
The spiritual guru spent time with the whole Australian cricket team ahead of the final Test as even skipper Steve Smith posted a picture with him. “He’s all about compassion and oneness for every human being and it was great to hear something like that from someone as prestigious as the Dalai Lama,” Smith was quoted as saying by Wide World of Sports.
“I asked him a question about sleep and how he could help me, and he gave me his blessing. We rubbed our noses together and gave me some blessings, so hopefully it’ll help me with my sleep over the next five days.If we can learn anything from it, it is that perhaps sometimes we get a bit over the top when we are out there playing cricket. It’s a tough game but at the end of the day it’s just a game and you need to realise that at times,” he further added.
