Indian Premier League Year-wise records
We take a look at what has taken place each year in the IPL in terms of numbers.
IPL 9: 2016 (April 9-May 29) Champions – Sunrisers Hyderabad
David Warner became the third Australian captain after Warne and Gilchrist to win an IPL title after his side SRH beat RCB by just 8 runs in the final in Bengaluru. It also meant that RCB failed to clear the final hurdle for the third time in IPL. RR and CSK did not play this edition since they were suspended for two editions in the wake of spot-fixing and betting scandals and they were replaced by two new franchises: Gujarat Lions (GL) and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). Also from this edition, Chinese company Vivo became IPL’s sponsor.
