India’s Flop ODI XI of the decade
These players got a few opportunities to prove their mettle but they failed.
Rishi Dhawan
Matches – 3, Runs –12, Wickets – 1
After the 2015 World Cup, the Indian selectors tried many fast bowling all-rounders to provide balance to the Indian ODI team. Hardik Pandya emerged as the solution to India’s woes. However, the selectors had given an opportunity to Rishi Dhawan before Pandya’s debut.
The Himachal Pradesh-born all-rounder made his ODI debut versus Australia Down Under. He got a chance to play 3 matches where Dhawan could aggregate only 12 runs while he managed to scalp only a solitary wicket. His highest score with the bat was 9.
With the ball, he leaked runs at an expensive economy rate of 6.40. Also, his bowling average of 160 indicates the reason behind his ouster from the team. Although Dhawan has a good record in List A cricket, the former Mumbai Indians star could not make it big in international cricket.
