The South African wasn’t considered fit for the shortest format of the game earlier but the way he has adapted to it has been an amazing story. Playing for Kings XI Punjab, he has scored 315 runs so far in 8 matches at an excellent average of 63. What strikes about his batting the most is the strike rate of 140 which shows that he has literally owned the T20 format. He defied all odds and notched up a century against Mumbai Indians which was a classical example of an orthodox batsman adjusting his game to suit the needs of T20 cricket.

The right-hander is perhaps the unluckiest Indian cricketer in the modern era. Over the course of 10 years in IPL, he has proved time and again his ability to compete on the biggest stage but somehow couldn’t perform in the international arena. But it must be said that he deserved more chances that what he got. Once more, he has been instrumental in Kolkata Knight Riders’ success this year and has accumulated 384 runs in 9 innings at a destructive strike rate of 170.67 and an average of 42.67. He has scored 5 half-centuries so far which is the highest this season and the kind of form he is in, might help KKR in clinching their third IPL title.

#5 Suresh Raina – 30 years

The left-hander was once a trusted finisher for India’s line-up and won so many matches single-handedly. In IPL as well, he was a key player for Chennai Super Kings for a number of years and led Gujarat Lions to the top of the points table last year. He has been the most consistent batsman ever in the IPL history and this year as well, he has been amongst the runs. So far, Raina has scored 310 runs in 9 games at an average of 51.67 and a strike rate of 140.27. Although his team hasn’t been able to replicate the performances of the previous season but his own performance definitely attracts the eyes of the national selectors.
