He was one player to watch out for even before the tournament began. The former U-19 skipper is known to be from the school of those wicket-keeper batsmen who are synonymous to astute, the clean striking of the ball. Even though he is best suited at the opening slot, Ishan Kishan has done an excellent job to make up for the inconsistency of opener Evin Lewis for Mumbai Indians. Whether he opens or comes one down, Kishan has been instrumental in giving MI a silver lining in their otherwise unfortunate standing in IPL.

With scores 40, 9, 44, 0, 58, 0, Kishan may lack consistency but for a batsman as attacking as him, the inability to convert good starts will come to him as he progresses and is groomed further. For someone with little experience on the international stage, Kishan has shown immense character and maturity in his time on the crease. The fact that he improvising each day with the glovework is a good news not just for MI but also for Team India.
