IPL 2020: 3 Mistakes committed by the losing side in SRH vs CSK
SRH committed a few mistakes in this game and we list a few of them.
Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their second consecutive game as CSK beat them in a close contest. The match went till the last over and SRH fell short of the target by 20 runs. SRH bowled well in patches as they restricted CSK to a total of 167/6, even after a solid start. Sandeep Sharma was their star with the ball as he picked up two wickets for 19 runs.
SRH started their chase steadily, but apart from Kane Williamson, none of the batsmen were able to pull off a long innings. As the required rate kept on climbing, SRH lost their way and fell short of the target. With this defeat, SRH have lost two games in a row and their road to the playoffs is getting difficult with every passing game.
Here are the three mistakes committed by SRH in Match 29, SRH vs CSK:-
1. Playing an extra bowler on a difficult pitch
The pitch was expected to grip and provide turn to the spinners. Also, run-scoring was going to be a hefty task, considering the slower deck. SRH could have had a long batting order to counter the conditions, however, instead of that, they played Shahbaz Nadeem and excluded Abhishek Sharma. Nadeem bowled well but Sharma could have been a very handy option with the bat, considering his ability to strike the ball and being a left-hander against CSK’s leg spinners.
2. SRH bowlers couldn’t get the yorkers right
T Natarajan and Khaleel Ahmed have been the death bowlers of SRH in Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s absence. They have bowled in the right areas as well in the previous games. However, against yellow army, they couldn’t get the yorkers right at the death and as CSK had their power-hitters in the middle, they utilised the opportunity to score 29 runs in the last two overs, which turned out to be the difference in SRH vs CSK clash.
3. A slow start on a slow track
As the tournament is progressing, the used pitches are getting slower. Also, as SRH was batting second, the pitch was slower than it was in CSK’s innings. Hence, they should have started at a rapid rate to utilize powerplay, a hard ball and CSK pacers’ speed. However, they played quite cautiously in the beginning and it created pressure on the middle order.
