Jos Buttler has now scored the most centuries (3) for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
Jos Buttler smashed yet another breathtaking century this season while Yuzvendra Chahal took five-for including a hat-trick as Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a thriller by seven runs in Match 30 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Buttler scored 103 runs off just 61 deliveries with nine fours and five sixes with Chahal picking up five wickets for 40 runs to win the fourth match for RR this campaign.
Talking about how this entertaining contest panned out, Shreyas Iyer won the toss as KKR elected to field first. They made one change from the last match with Shivam Mavi replacing Aman Khan. RR made three changes as Trent Boult, Obed McCoy, and Karun Nair came into the side for James Neesham, Kuldeep Sen, and Rassie van der Dussen.
Buttler, who is enjoying a rich vein of form this season, smashed his second ton this season and third overall. The orange cap holder got dismissed in the 17th over with skipper Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer also slamming 38 and 26 runs respectively to post a massive total of 217/5 for RR. Pat Cummins leaked 50 runs for one wicket in his four-overs spell.
Chasing a mammoth target of 218, Aaron Finch began the chase in a grand fashion as he tried to emulate Buttler’s innings. The Australian amassed 58 runs off just 28 deliveries with nine fours and two maximums before falling prey to Prasidh Krishna. KKR captain Shreyas kept going for his side as the right-handed batter smashed 85 runs off 51 balls. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals as the skipper didn’t get support from any other batter. Nitish Rana scored just 18 runs while power-hitter Andre Russell bagged a golden duck.
Yuzvendra Chahal then spun his web to dismiss Shreyas as he picked up a hat-trick in the 17th over to turn the match on its head. Chahal became the fifth RR bowler to claim a hat-trick in the IPL. Umesh Yadav struck 21 runs with two sixes but RR kept their cool to hand KKR their third straight defeat. With this win, RR moved second on the table with eight points while KKR find themselves in the sixth position with six points. For his game-changing over and match-winning spell, Yuzvendra Chahal won the Player-of-the-Match award.

1 – RR has now smashed the most sixes (63) this campaign. Punjab Kings (PBKS) is in the second spot for hitting 58 maximums.
1 – Buttler has now slammed most tons (3) for RR in the IPL. Ajinkya Rahane, Shane Watson, and Sanju Samson have all scored two hundred each.
