IPL captains in the first season and where are they now?

Sourav Ganguly (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Based in Kolkata, KKR was captained by Sourav Ganguly in the first edition of IPL. The team, owned by King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan fared really well in the opening games of the tournament with big wins over Bangalore and Hyderabad. However, the team failed to qualify for the semi-finals and finished sixth in the points table with 6 wins from 14 matches in the league stage.
Sourav Ganguly is currently the President of Cricket Association of Bengal assuming office in 2015. Apart from this, he is also one of the three members (alongside Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman) of BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee, which advises the BCCI on cricket-related matters pertaining to the international and domestic games. Dada is also a well-known cricket commentator and expert for Star Cricket and recently launched his autobiography ‘A Century Is Not Enough’.
