Dhoni gave another demonstration of his brute with this shot.
Former Indian captain MS Dhoni was the star in India’s victory over West Indies as he scored a clinical 78 to poise India to a score of 251/4 at the end of 50 overs. Dhoni is known for his power-hitting and is considered as one of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball. Dhoni gave another demonstration of his brute the previous evening with his impeccable innings on a moderate track.
It was an exceptionally all around ascertained innings by the Indian wicketkeeper which helped them put up a decent total on the board. He was helped by the finisher in making, Kedar Jadhav, who scored a speedy unbeaten 40 of 26 balls. The highlight of Dhoni’s innings was a six on the square leg.
He demonstrated his brilliance as he hit a wide outside off ball for a six on the square leg. In the 47th over of India’s innings, Dhoni hit Jason Holder for two back to back sixes and the second one was sheer brightness from the batsman. Holder did nothing wrong apart from bowling it wide of off stump to abstain from getting hit on that range. But it was MSD who anticipated the delivery and quickly shifted in his crease to loft the ball for a six where Jason would not have envisioned.
With the win, India leads 2-0 in the five-match series. However, it was a match in which India’s top order failed to score too many runs. Opener Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed in the third over of the match while skipper Virat Kohli departed in the 10th over after scoring just 11 runs with the willow. The bowling department, on the other hand, put up an incredible performance, especially the spinners. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets as the hosts fell woefully short of the target.
