Pat Cummins ruled out of Qantas tour of Bangladesh: The young Aussie speedster Pat Cummins has been ruled out of Australia’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh which will encompass 2 Test matches. Till now Cummin’s career has been characterized by brilliance and injuries. As and when, we get into the zone where he starts to look a permanent member of the Aussie team, he suffers an injury setback.

The same old story has repeated itself once again as he has suffered from stress fracture in his back, an injury which had troubled him even in the early phases of his career. James Faulkner has been named as his replacement in the squad by Cricket Australia (CA).

Recently, Pat Cummins had emerged as the Australian protagonist against England in the 5-match ODI series in which Australia defeated the hosts by 3-2. Cummins had taken 12 wickets and was the leading wicket-taker in the series. Pat’s only appearance for Australia in the whites came against South Africa in 2011, a Test in which he had claimed 7 wickets. On this Qantas tour of Bangladesh, Cummins was set to make a comeback in the longer format of the game but once again an injury donned the hat of spoil sport in his career.

Cricket Australia’s Physiotherapist David Beakley reportedly said, “Pat Cummins experienced lower back pain during the last ODI match in the UK and this pain continued upon his return to Australia. He subsequently underwent an MRI scan yesterday which unfortunately has revealed a new early stage lumbar bone stress fracture. Consequently Pat will be unable to participate in the Bangladesh Test series and will now enter into a lengthy rehabilitation program.”

The Qantas tour of Bangladesh will commence from October 9 with the first Test scheduled to be played at Chittagong. The second and final Test of the series will be played at Mirpur from October 17.
