Predicting the positions of 2019 World Cup teams in the 2020 T20 World Cup
The World Cup final this year was a classic example of error margins diminishing further and people cannot wait for the next ICC tournament to begin, which happens in Australia next October and November.
2. India (Semifinal)
Despite all the hype surrounding this exquisite Indian side, a pattern which went slightly unobserved in the last few ICC tournaments is worth noticing. After the 2013 Champions Trophy triumph, India played five ICC tournaments, losing in the knockout stages in all of them. They entered as favourites in all of them, yet failed to deliver the result which was expected.
One of the pillar-reasons for this frustrating turn of events is the heavy reliance on one or two players. It has always been Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and Mohammed Shami or some other dual combination which takes them to the knockouts and when this core fails, the team gets shattered. This Indian side is far from invincible.
Another reason to support the prediction that they could not win it next year is their middle-order conundrum, which has been haunting them for a major time. They’re experimenting some fresh legs and look a tad bit unsettled. It pretty much looks like another repeat of their recent ICC performances, where it’s all down to two or three men, which isn’t very promising.
