PSL 2022: Complete squads of all teams after players' draft

The seventh edition of the PSL will get underway on January 27.

All the six Pakistan Super League (PSL) sides have been finalized in the players’ draft which took place at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore on Sunday (December 12). A day before, the retention list was announced by the teams where franchises could retain a maximum of eight players from their squads. Notably, the retained players were divided into four categories – Diamond, Platinum, Gold, and Silver.

Except for Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators, the other four franchises utilized their full quota of retentions. The remaining slots were filled in the players’ draft. Notably, each side was ordered to have a minimum of 16 players in their squads at the end of the draft. Hence, the owners had the onus to making précised and accurate choices.

The draft was divided into six categories: Platinum, Diamond, Gold, four Silver categories, two Emerging and two Supplementary. Notably, all franchises had a Right to Match (RTM) card that allowed them to buy back a player. Meanwhile, the first pick of the day, in the Platinum Category, was Fakhar Zaman, who, on expected lines was picked by his former team Lahore Qalandars.

Tim David, Chris Jordan, Colin Munro and Hazaratullah Zazai were the other players to be picked in the platinum category. The Diamond category round saw the likes of Marchant De Lange, Odean Smith, Lewis Gregory, and James Faulkner getting picked by different players. Abdullah Shafique, Phil Salt, Harry Brook and Usman Qadir found a place in the gold category.

The silver and emerging rounds saw many young talents earning places in different franchises. Meanwhile, the seventh edition of the competition will get underway on January 27 and fans must gear up to witness exciting action over the 22 yards.
