It is a different ball game altogether when a batsman performs in all formats as it shows his worth to the team because this is a rare skill.
6. Mitchell Marsh
The Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh hails from a family who have a rich sporting culture. Hence, he was always in the mix, when it comes to Australian cricket. Marsh has been always rated highly given the early start of his professional career with the U-19 World Cup victory as a Captain of Australia, back in 2010, in New Zealand.
However, the Perth-born’s career has been quite topsy turvy given the fact that despite having been named as the Vice-captain of Australia, post the Sandpaper crisis. Marsh lost his place in the side across the formats due to his prolonged dismal performances. But his career took a wild turn when he smashed a T20 World Cup-winning knock of 77 off 50 balls to hand Australia their maiden glory in the shortest format. His major breakthrough came during the 2017-2018 Ashes at home, whereby he cracked a memorable century at the iconic WACA followed by an emotional century in Sydney with his own brother Shaun Marsh who was his batting partner.
Fast forward to the 2019 Ashes edition, where Mitchell was recalled to the Test side and he repaid the faith by taking his memorable maiden five-wicket haul at The Oval. Speaking of his career in the last year, the Aussie has amassed 336 runs from 9 appearances. Having played some impactful knocks for Australia, especially in the white-ball format, Marsh has averaged an impressive 60.33 with 3 fifties to his name. While in the current year, the 31-year-old has scored 194 runs from just three games. In 2023, Mitchell Marsh averages a whopping 97 with two fifties to his name.
