23-year-old Sanju Samson was on song the other day during the match against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore. The batsman came after the loss of the first wicket and remained unbeaten on 92 runs which came in just 42 deliveries. He hit 10 sixes in his spectacular innings that made sure The Rajasthan Royals total went well past 200. He just hit 2 boundaries in the course of his 92-run inning.
The batsman was named the man of the match for his performance as RCB could not deal with the asking rate pressure after wickets of Kohli and De Villiers in quick succession. However, Samson got a lot of praise from the opposition skipper Kohli.s
Kohli heaps praise on Samson
The RCB skipper while talking about Samson’s performance said that Samson has got a very simple game. “He’s a talented player. He’s always done well in the IPL. He’s got a good, simple game. He’s strong at the crease and balanced too,” said the RCB skipper. Kohli felt that Samson did not lose his shape and kept his poise when his bowlers were bowling well. He got off to a good start and kept his poise even when our bowlers bowled well. In the end, he was watching the ball and striking really well. He played really good innings,” said the India skipper.
Sanju Samson while talking about his performance said that this is just the start of the tournament and he wishes to win more matches for his side.
RCB looked well poised when Kohli along with Quinton de Kock stitched a partnership. It was 24-year-old Shreyas Gopal who struck for his side with a twin strike when he removed Kohli and De Villiers in back to back overs.
